Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, John graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1992 with a BA in fine arts and drama and from UC Irvine in 1995 with an MFA in the same. He spent the summers of '92 through '95 in the acting companies at the Oklahoma Shakespearian Festival and Shakespeare L/A before arriving in Los Angeles.
He made his first film as writer, star and producer ("Station Zero", 2012) which was awarded Best Narrative Short at two film festivals: Outside the Box and Monaco Charity.
